Where you are in isolation: Currently, I’m in my home town of Adelaide, Australia. Prior to that, I was working with Cirque du Soleil in Los Angeles.

What projects you are working on: Currently, I’m working on several recording projects from my home studio for musicians all over the world. Having time at home has allowed me to get my studio completely set up and I’m having a great time working on a whole bunch of different music. I’m also working on my own solo album which will be released later this year.

What gear you are using: My DAW of choice is Logic Pro X with RME interfaces. I use Pearl drums, Zildjian Cymbals, Vic Firth sticks and Roland Octapad. I also have a vintage Simmonds pad I use occasionally as an aux snare.

What you miss most: So many things! I miss playing for an audience and getting that real-time energy back from a crowd. Playing live with musicians and interacting in the moment is something that just can’t be replicated with multitrack recording. I can’t wait to get back to playing gigs for an audience again!!

How you think this experience is going to change music production going forward: There have been so many incredibly creative ideas born through this strange time. I think online collaboration is something that has become more of a necessity recently, but I believe it will continue to grow well after things have returned to “normal”. Sharing ideas via video calls has also grown rapidly, as well as online performances. If we can find a healthy balance of this, as well as live human interaction and performance once things stabilise, then I think we can truly use the ideas that have been created in this time for good!
