Alex González is using a DWe Acoustic-Electronic Wireless drum kit during Maná’s current “Vivir Sin Aire” arena tour, which comprises 29 dates.
González is the drummer and a founding member of Maná, which he co-founded in Guadalajara, Mexico in the late 1980s. He has remained the band’s sole drummer throughout its career and has appeared on all of Maná’s studio and live releases. As a member of Maná, González has received four Grammy Awards and eight Latin Grammy Awards, and in 2025, the band became the first Spanish-language rock act to be nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
The DWe kit is used on the tour’s ‘B’ stage for sections of the show performed in the middle of the arena, where the band plays together on a riser in close proximity. According to Drum Workshop, the electronic set-up allows overall stage volume to be reduced during these performances.
González’s set-up includes a DWe Piano Black Gloss kit paired with a Roland V71 drum module, Roland V-Cymbals, and DrumLink WT-10 wireless adaptors. His configuration also incorporates drum samples from multiple DW libraries, including the DW Purpleheart expansion pack for the V Series modules, along with the Swiss Family cymbal expansion pack.
Maná recently completed its 43rd arena performance in the Los Angeles area, exceeding the previous record held by Bruce Springsteen. Footage featuring González and the production team discussing the use of the DWe kit was recorded during the band’s performance at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles.
