DWe debuts Down Under

American drum maker DW, now a division of Roland, has released its wireless convertible DWe line in Australia – the first market outside North America and Japan to get the product which began shipping in January.

Launch events included two shows at Drumtek in Melbourne and Billy Hyde Music in Nunawading, and a demonstration by session drummer Gerry Pantazis at Just Percussion in Brisbane.

All variants of the DWe kit are available in Australia – four- and five-piece kits in three finishes: Exotic (Candy Black Burst over Curly Maple), Lacquer (Black Cherry Metallic or Midnight Blue Metallic), and two different wraps – Black Galaxy and White Marine Pearl. They come as shell packs; shell packs with cymbals; and shell pack/cymbals/hardware offerings, with additional pieces also available for order.

Pricing starts at $8,599 for the four-piece wrap shell pack, peaking at over $20K for the five-piece Exotic with cymbals and hardware.

One upgrade offered for free to Australian buyers is a Roland Rubix24 USB interface, which replaces the stock RTAP interface, offering more direct out options.
